Parthi is a dedicated teacher with a strong commitment to public service
  • Elected in 2014 as School Trustee for Toronto District School Board
  • Chaired the largest committee of the TDSB, overseeing academic programming for nearly 250,000 students and 40,000 staff members
  • Vice President of Ontario Public School Boards Association (OPSBA), representing all 31 English language public school boards in the province
  • Instrumental in passing a resolution recognizing January as Tamil Heritage Month at TDSB
  • Helped pass Islamic Heritage Month at the TDSB, so more than 500 schools can celebrate and learn more about Islam
  • An active community volunteer who has served as a faith teacher, youth basketball coach, and Chair of a resident’s association
Parthi worked successfully to increase the minimum wage to $15/hour. A Scarborough native for over three decades, Parthi will now fight to make these promises a reality:
  • Free and reduced college and university tuition
  • Free prescription medication from birth to 24 years
  • Improve Scarborough hospitals
  • Continue to work with with Scarborough’s many communities and provide a stronger voice for them and Toronto
